Teaching

Any topic I teach—from research methods to immigrant youth development—is situated within an ecological context. Subject matters do not stand alone and are instead within a system influenced by a historical and contextual narrative. The classroom serves to critically analyze that narrative, examining the work of past scholars and reimagining the future. I take a critical pedagogical approach to teaching and aim to equip students to question their understanding of the world. As bell hooks expressed, “the classroom remains the most radical space of possibility in the academy.”
